dosimeter preproduction announcement

I'm happy to announce that Tanuki and I are in preproduction for a new singleplayer game called dosimeter, a toxic yuri mecha game about squashing bugs to recolonize Earth.

Over the last few months, I've given a lot of thought about what I should do differently from no signal, both to be happier and more successful. I've come to the conclusion that, as an artist, I haven't embraced my entire self sufficiently enough. In particular, I want to embrace the evil gamedev inside of me and I want to make games about girls who are in love with each other!

While there is no timeline for the game yet, Tanuki and I are both excited for and committed to the new project as equal partners. We've done the market research and drafted a complete story with a beginning, middle, and end. Right now, I'm working on a gameplay demo. After that, a vertical slice. This preproduction phase should give us enough information to estimate how much work we'll have to do to make the game happen.

As always, financial support is greatly appreciated; it will make it easier for us to pay contractors to work on this game. If you are already supporting me, I want to express my gratitude as we enter the year of 2026. Thank you so much for your continued support, especially as I take the time to figure out a new rhythm for working on indie games.

There is so much I'd like to share! But, for now, please enjoy the setting for the game. Spoilers ahead!

setting (spoilers)

In the distant past, all of humankind left Earth due to apocalyptic industrial activity which rendered the biosphere inhospitable, leaving in a generation ship to establish a new homeworld. Now, Earth has become habitable again and humanity has returned to reclaim it's rightful home, but Earth has been taken over by giant bugs.

You play as Vermillion, a catgirl mercenary working for the military. Your job is to assist the military in bug extermination so that Earth can be recolonized. Each mission, you get a list of objectives that you are scored on. Higher scores result in higher ranks, granting you the privilege to access more powerful weapon systems. Between missions, you can customize your mech loadout, explore the low-earth orbit military outpost that you call home, and talk to various NPCs like your handler and romantic partner Serie.

Eventually a state secret is revealed to you: Not all humans were able to leave on that day in the distant past and their descendants survived the apocalypse to live on Earth today. Your task as a mercenary becomes more difficult as you are deployed to combat zones where you need to avoid killing civilians while battling bugs.

Finally, you learn that the bugs have adapted to subsume humans, infecting their brains with a parasite that turns them into brainwashed computational organs. That's when you are handed DOSE-M, a medical injector designed to destroy the parasite in the pilot behind the bug's carapace.

conclusion

Finding out that crushing the bugs is not as simple it seems is one of the twists of the game, and I hope you can see why this setting is so compelling for us to work on! If you want to ask us any questions about the story, please feel free to contact me and I'll see if I can answer them in the next devlog!
