Our Dreams at Dusk (しまなみ誰そ彼)

Our Dreams at Dusk (Japanese: しまなみ誰そ彼, Hepburn: Shimanami Tasogare) by Kamatani Yuhki (Japanese: 鎌谷 悠希) is an LGBTQ manga about a gay boy named Tasuku who has a crush on a member of the school volleyball team and the Cat Clowder group, which does renovations and restorations of properties, that he becomes a part of. 1

I really liked how the manga covers so many different gender and sexual identities in a way that felt thoughtful and considerate. In particular, I liked how it showed the characters as being people that happen to have their gender or sexual identity as part of themselves rather than being entirely defined by it. 1

There was also a really interesting comic technique used early in the story where a speech bubble was drawn behind a railing, to give the reader a visual cue that the person going down the stairs was becoming harder to hear. In general, the manga is beautifully drawn, with evocative scenes turning into stunning visual metaphors. 1
