Seitan

A vegan, traditional Asian ingredient often used as a meat replacement. 1

Recipe 1

Dry:

  • 2 1/4 cups vital wheat gluten flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast

Wet:

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons liquid smoke

Instructions:

  1. Mix dry ingredients
  2. Mix wet ingredients
  3. Mix wet ingredients into the dry ingredients slowly
  4. Knead dough for 2 minutes
  5. Let dough rest for 15 minutes
  6. Cut the dough into small pieces
  7. Boil in water for 30 minutes
